Currently, I am writing book two, and I’m at chapter six of my first draft. The outline is completely finished, though I think I need to add a few more chapters. Right now, I’m sitting at around twenty-two, and in book one, Nexus Crest, I had thirty-three chapters. I’m aiming for at least thirty-five in book two. I have no idea what I’m going to name this book yet. It’s obviously not going to be Nexus Crest Two—that’s kind of lame, and other books don’t really do that anyway.
In this book, I really wanted to expand on the government and judicial system because that plays a huge role in the story. It’s not going to be some boring “you’re guilty, you’re not guilty” kind of setup. It’s a whole new system inspired by the ones we already know, but with a twisted edge.
There’s also a big explanation of the ReVamp Program, which is going to become another major part of the series. It can’t only be about royalty and bloodlines, even though the royal status of the Bloodborne Nocturnal will always be important. And Arabella! I mean, come on. You love her, I love her, she’s the best friend everyone wants. Her secret storyline is one of my favorite parts of this series, and I can’t wait for the world to really come together into something dark, seductive, enlightening, and thought-provoking. I want it to make readers stop and ask, “What do I believe in?”
As for the level I’m aiming for with my writing, I want it to be Harry Potter-level worldbuilding. I want this to feel so immersive that you believe the world actually exists right beneath our feet. Obviously, writing a vampire novel is different than writing about wizards and Muggles, but vampires bring in their own kind of depth. It’s not just about blood. Vampires are a symbol of greed, hunger, and sin itself, and I want that to radiate through every part of this story.
I know some people might ask, “Why not include other supernatural creatures like mermaids, ghosts, or werewolves?” But for me, that’s impossible. The symbol of the vampire is too strong. This series has to be about them, their world, and what they represent.
So, to all my readers who completed Nexus Crest, we ended on a huge cliffhanger. You’re probably wondering, Where are the characters now? What’s going to happen to them? Where does book two even begin? My only answer is this: you’re never going to guess. And that, to me, is the best part of it all as an author.
